The Inspector General of Police has ordered an internal review of the allegations against Abba Kyari, a highly celebrated police officer.
The United State of America’s Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigators found Kyari, a deputy commissioner of police indicted in the investigation of alleged fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly called Hushpuppi and has ordered for his arrest.
Hushpuppi, who recently made a plea agreement to multi-million dollar fraud charges by U.S. investigators, told the investigators that he gave Kyari some of the proceeds of his crime.
Though Kyari had denied the allegations but the IGP however on Thursday night ordered an internal review of the allegations against DCP Abba Kyari and vowed to inform the general public of the outcome of the internal investigation
A statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CP Frank Mba, said IGP’s decision followed the formal receipt of allegations and indictment processes against Kyari from the FBI by the Nigeria Police
The statement reads, “Sequel to the receipt of allegations and indictment processes from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) against one of the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Abba Kyari, the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc (+), NPM, fdc has ordered an internal review of the allegations.
“The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its commitment to the pursuit of justice and the strengthening of its professional relationship with the FBI and other international partners.
“Further developments on this case will be communicated to members of the public accordingly.”
