GTBank Masters Cup (Season 6) Quarter Finals Fixtures

The GTBank Masters Cup Season 6 has entered the Round of 8 after a rather cagey but action packed group stage that had all the trappings of an extraordinary tournament, which has so far featured spectacular goals, exceptional talent and breath-taking football skills.

The quarter finals stage of the prestigious football tournament will feature 8 games that will see the last 16 teams in both the male and female categories of the competition continue their quest to clinch the highly coveted trophy.

The Quarter finals game will be played at Onikan Stadium, Lagos on Thursday 11th & Fri 12th May 2017.

On Thursday, May 11, 2017, in the female category, Greensprings Schools, Lekki will slug it out with Methodist Girls High School, Yaba by 10am, while the second match would hold between Ansar Ud Deen Girls High School, Itire and Dowen College, Lekki by 11.30am.

In the male category, Greensprings Schools, Lekki will ruffle the grasses with Eko Boys High School, Mushin by 1pm and King’s College, Lagos will battle with Anwar-Ul-Islam College, Agege at 2.30pm for a spot in the last four.

On Friday, May 12, 2017, the girls will kick off the quarter-finals with Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School, Iponri playing Ansar-Ud-Deen College, Isolo in the 1st match and Ansar Ud Deen Girls High School, Itire playing Dowen College, Lekki in the 2nd match.

The Jubril Martins male team will start the male match, squaring up against last season’s runners up, St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi. The 2nd male match will St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka will renew their rivalry with International School Lagos, Akoka male team.

Seven out of the 16 teams playing in the quarter finals have won the tournament in the past and will be looking to repeat the feat.

Three schools, Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School, Iponri, International School Lagos (UNILAG), and Greensprings Schools, Lekki, will field both male and female teams for the first time in the quarter finals phase of the competition.

It will be two days of exciting and thrilling encounters between the schools, all football lovers are invited to be a part of the soccer fiesta.

This 6th season has already produced an exciting array of football skills and talent, and the quarter-final games are sure to raise that excitement with eye-catching match ups.

The GTBank Masters Cup began in 2012 and the competition has been on for 6 consecutive seasons

The tournament is played in the male and female categories and 29 teams played in this year’s tournament.

Queens College, Yaba has emerged champions for a record 4 times – 2012, 2014, 2015 & 2016, while 120 goals (Boys – 96; Girls – 24) have been scored so far in the competition.

The players to look out for are Akpan Moses–St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka; Ernest Promise–Anwar-Ul-Islam Model College, Agege; and Ibrahim Raheem–Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School, Iponri in the male category.

In the female group, the players to watch out for are Ademola Basirat–Ansar-Ur-Deen Girls High School, Itire; Dolapo Aurori–Queens College, Yaba; and Koledoye Aliyah–Greensprings School, Lekki.
