Omatseye Knows Fate May 9

Raymond Temisan Omatseye

Former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Raymond Temisan Omatseye, will know his fate come Monday, May 9, 2016.

This is because Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia has fixed the day for delivery of judgment in a case involving Omatseye.

He was accused of awarding contract above his approval limit and arraigned on a 27-count charge.

At the resumed hearing of the matter on Monday, the prosecution counsel, Godwin Obla, SAN, and defence counsel, E. D Onyeke made their final addresses and adopted them before the court.

Onyeke urged the court to dismiss the case against his client on the grounds that the prosecution has not been able to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.

In his defence, Obla prayed the court to find the defendant guilty of all the charges because they (charges) are based on the approval of contract above the threshold level.

After listening to all their arguments, the judge adjourned the matter till May 9, 2016 for judgment.
