Barcelona star, Lionel Messi, was on Monday announced as winner of the prestigious FIFA Ballon D’Or award at a ceremony held in Zurich, Switzerland.
The Argentine grabbed his fifth best player of the year award at the expense of Christiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid and his teammate at Barcelona, Neymar.
Messi raked in the highest number of votes to pick the award. He is the first player to win the award on five record times.
