Houses, Shops Razed In Another Lagos Tanker Fire

Barely four days after a tanker fire exploded after it veered off the Iyana Ipaja flyover bridge on the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway in Alimosho local government area of Lagos State, a similar incident has occurred not too far away from the scene of the last one.

The latest incident, which took place on Friday night at about 1140pm, happened in Idimu area, a very crowded community in the same local government.

It was learnt that a tanker fully loaded with Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), well known as diesel, exploded after its contents spilled.

According to what we were told, the articulated vehicle carrying the product was involved in an accident. It was alleged that the driver was driving recklessly before the mishap.

Shops, houses and other properties were badly damaged in the inferno, though there was no confirmation as to any human casualty. Meanwhile, fire fighters have brought the situation under control.
