Peace was distorted in Southern Kaduna on Sunday when some irate Muslim and Christian youths clashed, burning a church and two mosques in Kachia area of the state.

It was learnt that the Muslim youths attacked their Christian counterpart after some people invaded their own praying ground in the area. This also resulted in the burning of some houses in Kachia town.

Reasons for the latest confrontations by followers of both religions have not been made known by the government or the police, however, security operatives in the state are still looking into the Sunday’s outbreak of violence in the town.

Apparently disturbed by the latest attack and to further stop it from escalating, the state government has declared a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the area. Officers of the Nigeria Police and the Nigerian Army have taken over the town to make sure the imposed curfew is observed.
