Ubale Sa’idu Dotsa, an alleged rapist, has been sentenced to death by stoning by an Islamic court in Kano. The 63 years old man was found guilty of the offence by the court. Dotsa was accused of raping a 10-year-old girl and infected her with the HIV disease. His two late wives allegedly died of HIV/AIDS in the past.
The convict told the court that he actually raped the girl, but stressed that he was used by the Devil to commit the crime.
It is not yet certain if Dotsa will appeal the judgement, which might eventually get to the Federal Supreme Court. At the moment, no prosecution has been carried yet on those sentenced to death by stoning by the Islamic courts.
