Ondo APC Congress Leaves 1 Dead, 13 Injured

At least one person was feared dead on Wednesday in Ondo State when violence broke out at one of the ward congresses organised by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. The deceased, identified as Bosun Adegoriola, was reportedly shot dead by a member of another faction of the party in Ondo State. Also, about 13 persons were injured in the melee.

Members of the APC factions in the state reportedly engaged themselves in supremacy battle, using dangerous weapons in the process.

According to reports, some aggrieved members of the party stormed the Ajipowo area of Ward 2 in the state capital, Akure, and disrupted the congress, which was in progress as at that time. The attackers were said to have kicked against the conduct of the primaries by the party.

Confirming the incident, the Police spokesman in Ondo State, Wole Ogodo, said some members of the party in the state have been apprehended in connection with the murder of Adegoriola. The police further disclosed that the deceased was shot on the head and that the suspects have been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID.
