Hoodlums Attack Journalist In Benin

A reporter with The Nation newspaper, Ben Ogbemudia, was on Monday attacked in Benin City, Edo State by some hoodlums. Ogbemudia was inflicted with a deep machete cut in his upper left arm by his attackers.

The incident reportedly occurred at Eke Street, not far from St Saviour, Upper Sokponba Road, Benin City at about 7:30pm.

It was gathered that the journalist, after alighting from his car, was attacked by the miscreants. We further learnt that the thugs, numbering about three, came in a Nissan Almera car marked with registration number Edo DGE 382 AA.

Ogbemudia was later rushed to a private hospital in Benin for treatment and discharged after receiving stitches. He then reported the incident at St Saviour Police Station. The journalist identified the hoodlums as Adult, Emwanta and Osaretin.

He had gone to visit his family before the New Year’s Eve activities when he was attacked.
