FCT Customs Generates Over N999 Million in 3 Months

The Nigeria Customs FCT Area Command said it has collected revenue to the tune of N999,535,066.76 from January-March, 2022.

This shows a significant increase of N213 Million as against 786 Million naira collected in the corresponding months of the year 2021 representing 21.4% increase in revenue collection.

The Area Controller of the FCT Command, Comptroller Suleiman Bomoi made this known on Wednesday in a press statement signed by Jude Ansha, the Commands Public Relations Officer.

The Comptroller said anti-smuggling activities have been low due to the fact that the Command has no dedicated Cargo Airline.

However, he noted that collaboration and sharing of credible intelligence with relevant Government Agencies to suppress smuggling activities to its barest minimum is highly considered.

He further noted that the Command recorded thirteen (13) detentions of Drones pending the availability of an End-User Certificate from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA)  and one (1) seizure of a Pistol which falls under Schedule 4 (i.e Absolute Prohibition) of Common External Tariff (CET) 2022-2026.

Bomoi while speaking on exportation revealed that “in line with Federal Government’s effort to diversify the economy through non-oil export, the Command recorded exportation of Raw Gold, Tantalum sand etc with Free on Board (FOB) value of $2,697,683.11 which is equivalent to N1,118,432,440.57 for the month of January – March, 2022.

FCT Command’s jurisdiction covers Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, which is an entry and exit of the country. So, I call on all Stakeholders to make it a security free Airport.” He added.

While appreciating the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) for his support, Bomoi commended officers of the Command for ensuring that revenue leakages were mitigated.

The Custome Area Controller, Comptroller Suleiman Bomoi along with his management also decorated 37 officers from his Command that were recently promoted by the board of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The promotion of 37 officers includes; 5 CSC – AC, 9 DSC – SC, 15 ASC I – DSC, 8 ASC II – ASC I
