1000 Militants Surrender In Imo, Embrace Amnesty

Not less than 1000 people believed to be militants embraced an amnesty programme put in place by the Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha on Wednesday.

The militants, who are based at Oguta, Ohaji/Egbema LGA of the state, renounced their restiveness and surrendered their weapons to the state government.

Leaders of the various restive cult groups, while surrendering their weapons, took oaths never to go back to shooting, killing and destruction of oil pipelines in their areas.

Large number of arms and ammunition including, AK 47, Pump Actions, grenades, short and long local made guns, charms etc were received by the state governor who asked them to go and sin no more.

The state governor also made a solemn promise to make available to them all the resources they need to settle back into the society.
