The peaceful and serene country of Uganda has joined the global platform of fast rising socio-cultural association, Oodua Progressive Union, making it the 70th Chapter so far launched across the globe.
The event which was witnessed by a very excited crowd took place at the prestigious Maries Royal Hotel banquet hall Kampala, on Tuesday, 7th June 2016.
The launching came up just two days after the launch of the Kenya Chapter and as expected attracted Yorubas who are based in Uganda.
Welcoming the delegates from Nigeria headed by the Global Convener of OPU, Otunba Gani Adams, The Zaaki of Arigidi-Akoko, HRM, Oba Yisa Olanipekun, Otunba Kamorudeen Lamina, Femi Davies and Prince Segun Akanni, the pioneer Coordinator of Uganda OPU Otunba Gani Olawale Dallas expressed the joy and excitement of Yorubas in Uganda for the grace to be part of the global movement and vowed ensure that the Uganda Chapter will within a short while be one of the most vibrant chapter in the continent of Africa.
The Global Convener of OPU, Otunba Gani Adams could not hide his elated mood with the readiness and prompt acceptance of OPU in Uganda. According to him, he was encouraged to fast track the launching of the Uganda chapter based on feelers and pressure from Yorubas in Uganda about their eagerness to lay a solid foundation for Oodua Progressive Union to be established in the East African country.
In his speech, Otunba Gani Adams told the gathering that the birth of OPU at this time is no doubt what Eledumare sanctioned.
According to him, “what was to be a visit to the pioneer members of OPU in Uganda is today the official Launch of the fastest growing socio-cultural Organisation across the globe. I praise Eledumare for the journey so far and give him all the glory and adoration for the successful spread of OPU within a short while.
