Ex-Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, Is Dead

Former Nigeria captain and coach, Stephen Keshi, has died from a cardiac arrest at the age of 54 in the early hours of Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

It was learnt that Keshi, nicknamed ‘Big Boss’, gave up the ghost suddenly in Benin City while planning to return to his base in the United States later that day.

His death has remained shocking to his friends and family, who said he was in good health and had no previous heart problems.

Keshi is among the only two men to have won the Africa Cup of Nations as both a player and coach. The other person is Mahmoud El-Gohary of Egypt.

He won 64 caps for Nigeria as a central defender from 1981-95. He took charge of Nigeria, Togo and Mali while alive.

He played for 20 years in clubs in Belgium, France, the United States and Malaysia.

In December 2015, Keshi lost his wife, Kate, to death after a three-year battle with cancer. He is survived by four children.
