Mantu, Makarfi Reconcile; To Meet Sheriff

On Thursday, members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Concerned Group led by Senator Ibrahim Mantu, met with the PDP National Caretaker Committee, led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi and the members of the Board of Trustees, BOT, at the Transcorp Hotel, Abuja.

During the meeting, issues concerning the party were discussed.

Also in attendance were PDP members at the National Assembly represented by Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy President of the Senate and Hon. Leo Ogor, House Minority Leader.

At the end of the meeting and after series of deliberation, it was agreed that the Mantu led PDP Concerned Group that held a parallel Convention in Abuja on Saturday, May 21, 2016 recognises the PDP National Convention in Port Harcourt and agreed to work with the Makarfi led PDP National Caretaker Committee.

Also, nine out of the 12 members of the former National Working Committee, NWC, that was dissolved at the Port Harcourt Convention also recognised the led PDP National Caretaker Committee and agreed to work with them.

BOT members and members of PDP at the National Assembly also recognise the Ahmed Makarfi led PDP National Caretaker Committee and all pledged their loyalty to the Committee.

BOT also advised all aggrieved members of the PDP that have cases in courts to withdraw such cases and settle the matter internally using the various available party mechanisms.

Finally, the meeting constituted a Committee to meet with the former National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff for further deliberations and advised all party members nationwide to remain calm and continue to support the PDP National Caretaker Committee.
