Senator Nwali Found Dead Inside Pond

Reports say one-time Senator, Offia Nwali, has been found dead at the back of his home in Ameka Community, Ezza South local government area of Ebonyi State.

He was said to have been found dead in a pond located behind his house on Saturday, May 21, 2016.

The deceased’s relative confirmed the death of the Deputy National Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo via a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, spokesman of the Ebonyi state police command, George Okafor, who also confirmed the incident, disclosed that investigations into the real cause of death of the 74-year-old former lawmaker are ongoing.

Okafor said, “We cannot establish whether he drowned inside the pond or whether he was killed but investigations have commenced to unravel the mystery behind his death. We have not made any arrest so far but we assure the citizens of the state that we would ensure that the matter is investigated to its logical conclusion.”

His corpse has since been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki mortuary.

Nwali was one of the first Africans to obtain a doctorate degree in Computer and Analytical Studies from Harvard University in the US. He lost his entire family in a Forker 28-plane crash at the Enugu Airport in 1983 but later remarried.
