Build Ifa Temple For Us—Worshippers Beg Ambode

The Ajo Babalawo Apapo Odu Cultural Association, a group of Ifa traditional worshipers, has sought for the Lagos State Government support in building an Ifa Temple in Lagos as well as helping to promote the indigenous religious festival to serve as tourist attraction to the State.

The Olori Oluwo, Chief Awurela made the call during the annual Ifa festival held on Sunday, May 15, 2016, in Temu Oke Iponrin, Epe, Lagos.

According to him, “With the building of the temple and changing the face of the historic Igbo-Irunmole in Epe, people will troupe in from all over the world for the festival as it was done during the Osun Oshogbo festival”.

“We cannot do it alone; we need the support of the State Government in achieving our aim in order to make Lagos a tourist destination of choice as promised by the Governor.”

He stated that the economy can be improved through the promotion of tourism, arts and culture in view of the decline in petroleum earning which serves as our major source of revenue.

Chief Awurela pointed out that there is no reason the traditional worshipers in the state should not have their own temple since the government had built a State Mosque and Church for muslims and Christians adherents respectively.

The annual Ifa traditional festival draws the attendance of all Ifa worshipers from every part of the State.
