Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Tukar Yusuf Buratai, has donated two Land Cruiser Ambulances to the Nigeria Defence Academy to help improve the standard of medical services in the Academy.
This is in line with his vision to have a professional and responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.
The Chief of Army Staff who was recently at the Academy to commission the recently upgraded NDA Obstacle Crossing Course, had promised to make available adequately equipped ambulances for quick transportation and First Aid treatment of sick or injured cadets and personnel.
The COAS promptly made good his promise by delivering the two ambulances to NDA within days.
While launching the Ambulance, the Commandant Nigeria Defence Academy, Major General MT Ibrahim, who was filled with high praise and gratitude to the COAS, said the Chief’s spirit of comradeship and sacrifice has indeed solved a critical problem in the Academy, following on the heels of his promise to provide two purpose – built ambulances.
Speaking further, the Commandant pointed out that the ambulances will be an additional input to life saving process for cadets and staff during medical emergencies, and also improve on the standard of medical services in the Academy.
With this great sacrifice and effort from the COAS, he further stated that the morale of cadets, soldiers and personnel will be further lifted and they will be reassured of prompt and adequate medical care at any time.
The ambulances which are fitted with the basic features also have two cylinders, Defibrillator and a provision for a Cardiac Monitor to be installed on each, which he noted would be used for major bush exercises.
The Commandant further instructed that the ambulances be handled with great care and should be operational at the Old and Permanent Site, adding that trained medical orderlies and personnel who are versatile in life saving techniques and knowledgeable in administering basic First Aid should to be attached to the ambulances at all times.
