$1m Cash Found in Badeh’s N1.1b Abuja Mansion

According to a report by Punch, not less than $1 million cash was found in the Abuja property of former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

The said amount was reportedly discovered by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, when his house at 6, Ogun River Street, Maitama, Abuja, was combed.

Punch quoted an official of the anti-graft agency as saying the foreign currency was found in the house in the presence of witnesses few days ago.

“We have seized several properties belonging to Badeh. A few days ago, we returned to the mansion located at 6, Ogun River Street, Maitama.

“In the presence of several witnesses, including neighbours, we searched the house and recovered $1m in cash. The money has been lodged as evidence,” the source was said to have disclosed.

It was further reported that the mansion, which is said to worth over N1.1 billion, is one of the five properties seized from Badeh, who also allegedly purchased a commercial plot of land at Plot 1386, Oda Crescent, Cadastral Zone A07, Wuse II, Abuja, for N650 million.

Badeh is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday (today) before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

He has been in the EFCC custody since February 8, 2016.
