Geidam is the hometown of governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam.
Residents of the community claimed the insurgents stormed the area in about seven Toyota Hilux vehicles, shooting sporadically.
Geidam is about 180 kilometres from Damaturu, the state
capital and also a border town between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
