Yobe Governor Hometown Under B'Haram Siege

There are reports of sporadic gunshots in Geidam area of Yobe State. The attack, according to what we learnt, is being carried out by suspected members of Boko Haram sect.

Geidam is the hometown of governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam.

Residents of the community claimed the insurgents stormed the area in about seven Toyota Hilux vehicles, shooting sporadically.

Geidam is about 180 kilometres from Damaturu, the state
capital and also a border town between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, confirmed the attack, but said “the militants are currently making efforts to invade the town but security forces on ground are well in control of the situation”
