Police Yet To Arrest Saraki

Senate President, Bukola Saraki is yet to be arrested by the Nigeria Police as ordered by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja on Friday.

This is because, according to what we gathered, the Force is yet to receive the directive to carry out the action.

Saraki was taken to the CCT by the Federal Government on allegation of false declaration of assets.

Justice Danladi Umar, at the sitting on Friday, directed the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to produce the Senate President at the tribunal on Monday, after he had failed to show up on Friday.

He had gone to a Federal High Court in Abuja to stop the trial, but Justice Ahmed Mohammed ruled that the parties involved in the matter; Chairman of CCT, the Ministry of Justice, the CCB and Saraki to appear before it next Monday.

This was interpreted by Saraki’s counsels to have meant the Senate President’s trial was suspended, but Justice Umar ruled that the High Court had no supervisory jurisdiction over the tribunal, which to him, rendered the court judgement void.
