Nurse Takes Ebola To Enugu, 21 Quarantined

The deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, has found its way to Enugu, Aproko247 can confirm. The disease, which has killed about 1013 persons, was transported to the Coal City by a nurse who had contact with the late Liberian-American that brought the killer virus to Nigeria, Patrick Sawyer.

Addressing newsmen after the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, revealed that the nurse, who was quarantined in Lagos, escaped to her hometown in Enugu and had contact with 20 persons. These 20 people were traced and put under surveillance by the government.

Maku said the health worker’s action has now put the government on high alert.

For now, there is no confirmed cure for the disease. The number of person quarantined in Nigeria has now risen to 189, while three cases of death have so far been recorded in the country.
