Odiolowo/Ojuwoye Students To Get Scholarships, GCE Forms From LCDA Boss, Rasak Ajala

As part of his plans of building a formidable future for youths in his community, the Executive Secretary of Odiolowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Honourable Rasak Olusola Ajala, has concluded plans to start a ‘Special Education’ programme.

The educational package will see the council boss give out 250 GCE forms to students who score high in the mock examination also organized by Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.

According to what we gathered, the initiative was put together for students in public schools in the LCDA and it is aimed to improve the academic standard of students within the community.

Speaking with journalists at the Ilupeju Senior Secondary School on Monday, Hon Ajala said: “We believe that the best anyone can ever give a child is qualitative education hence the emergence of this programme, we strongly believe that investing in these students is for the betterment of our tomorrow as a community, as a people and as a nation.”

He further said, “The good thing about this Special Education programme is that it’s for every student in the LCDA, as long as you are a student of any public school in Ilupeju, Odiolowo or Ojuwoye, you are qualified to write the exam and subsequently benefit from the scholarship and bursary package once you emerge victorious in the main November/December examination.”

“All we’re trying to promote is meritocracy as against nepotism and favouritism. We strongly believe that you don’t need to know anyone to anyone before you can benefit from government,” the LCDA boss also said.

Continuing, Hon Ajala said, “We started with tutorial classes for the students, so we can prepare them adequately for the exams. Let it also be known that we got quality teachers from professional tutorial centres not just some undergraduates or SSCE school leavers to tutor the students.”

On the vocational training, the LCDA boss said he is determined to help the local council develop maximally and to achieve this he said there’s going to be the introduction of a poverty alleviation programme for the people of Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.
