The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has made clarification concerning the State Congress in Anambra State.

In a statement issued on Sunday by its National Secretary, Prof Adewale Oladipo, the party said the stand of the NWC on the issue was based on obedience to a court directive.

“The NWC believes that the congresses would help to strengthen PDP structures in the state and pave the way for the final retake of Anambra State by our great party in the next gubernatorial election,” the party explained.

It further explained that the holidays would not affect the purchase of nomination forms by aspirants “as directives have been given to allow the issuance of the forms upon payment of cash to the appropriate quarters.”

“The national leadership solicits the cooperation and understanding of relevant stakeholders, particularly the security agencies to ensure smooth conducts of the congresses at the ward, local government and state levels,” the statement concluded.
