INEC Fixes Dates For Kogi, Bayelsa Guber Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced dates for the governorship elections expected to hold later in 2015 in Kogi and Bayelsa States.

Gubernatorial elections were not held in Kogi and Bayelsa States on April 11, 2015 because the tenures of the governors in the two states were not terminating on May 29, 2015 like many others.

A statement issued on Friday by the Commission in Abuja disclosed that while November 21 has fixed for the Kogi poll, December 5 is for Bayelsa State.

Chris Iyimoga, Chairman, Information and Voter Education, INEC, said in the statement that the primaries for the polls shall be held on or before August 23, 2015 and September 5, 2015, respectively for the two states.

He added that campaigns by political parties taking part in the elections shall commence on July 24 and end on November 29 in Kogi while that of Bayelsa will be from September 6 to December 4, 2015.
