Former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, was on Thursday arrested by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, at his Abuja residence.

Ohakim was later taken to the Commission’s office in Maitama, Abuja, where he was questioned over alleged bribery and money laundering.

He was initially invited by the anti-money laundering agency, but the former governor failed to honour it, which forced the EFCC to storm his Asokoro home on Thursday at about 10:05 am.

Ohakim, who governed Imo State from 2007 to 2011, was whisked away in an unmarked car and detained at their office.
