Buhari Off To Germany For G7 Summit

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, will on Sunday morning leave the shores of the country to attend a meeting of the G7 holding in Bavaria, Germany.

Buhari was invited to the G7 Summit by German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, as an observer, since Nigeria is not a member of the group. He will be meeting with Presidents of other countries at the Summit, which is scheduled to take place on June 7 and 8, 2015 in the German city.

A statement issued on Saturday by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, pointed out that, “The invitation is a clear indication of the international community’s willingness to cooperate with the new government of Nigeria.”

Shehu further said Buhari is in a “group of seven other Heads of State who were called in as guests.

“He will equally be holding key side meetings with some of the seven Heads of State at the summit.”
