Corpers Demonstrate In Rivers

Members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Rivers State staged a protest on Friday morning, demanding for the payment of their allowances.

The aggrieved Corpers, at the orientation camp in Nonwa Gbam Tai area of the state, claimed the government has refused to pay them their allowances.

The protesting Corps members barricaded the NYSC camp and called for the immediate payment of the money they are entitled to.

They accused the government of neglecting them as they serve their fatherland.

Military personnel stationed at the camp ensured the demonstrators did not destroy any public properties.

Meanwhile, Aproko247 learnt that after the protest, the allowances of the Corpers were paid. Our correspondent gathered that normalcy has returned to the NYSC camp.
