A former Minister of Petroleum, Rilwanu Lukman, has passed on. The trained Engineer died on Monday morning in faraway Austria.
The deceased held several political positions before his demise on Monday.
Late Lukman was born in Zaria, Kaduna State on August 26, 1938 and studied Mining Engineering at the College of Arts, Science, and Technology, Zaria (now Ahmadu Bello University), and later proceeded to the Imperial College, London, to further his education.
In 2008, Lukman, 76, was appointed Minister of Petroleum Resources by late President Umaru Yar’Adua, and left office in March 2010.
He was once a Secretary General of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, a position the deceased held from January 1, 1995 to December 31, 2000.
