ASUP Ends 9-Month-Old Strike

The industrial action embarked on since October 2013 by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has been called off. The strike was suspended by the union on Saturday morning following a meeting held by the National Executive Council, NEC, of ASUP in Abuja.

This also followed a meeting held between leadership of the union and the new Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, on Thursday, a day after he was sworn-in by President Goodluck Jonathan along with three others.
