Omokri advised that “as a nation, we must confront the fallacy that corrupt ex-officials’ past are forgiven if they join the opposition and turn critics of government,” noting that, “it may be acceptable [for] political opposition to criticise the government, but it is unpatriotic to denigrate your nation because you are not in power.”

Commenting further, the President’s aide pointed out that, “the masses don’t give corrupt officials a deterrent if they celebrate them when they lose out in power as long as they turn overnight critics.”

He concluded by submitting that, “politicians can be corrupt because they believe the masses will forgive them tomorrow if they turn critics of the government that will be in power.”
