Solskjaer Joins Cardiff As Manager

Barclays Premier League club, Cardiff City, has named a former Manchester United striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as its new manager. The ‘Baby-faced Assassin’ was announced as the handler of the Welsh soccer club on Thursday by the management. He replaces Malky Mackay, who was sacked by the club’s Malaysian owner, Vincent Tan, after their relationship broke down recently.

Solskjaer, 40, joins Cardiff from Molde, a Norwegian club he managed before his present appointment. He also played for Molde before joining the Red Army in 1996, where spent 11 years and helped the Manchester club to win a Champions League Cup in 1999 against Bayern Munich.

A statement on the club’s website reads, “Cardiff City Football Club are delighted to announce that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has joined the club as first team manager.”

Solskjaer was at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday with Tan to watch the Arsenal match again Cardiff City, which the Gunners won by 2-0.

Reacting to his appointment, Solskjaer said on Cardiff’s website that, “I feel lucky to be back in the Premier League. I had to have a talk about it with the family, obviously, but it is a great opportunity.”
