Senator Ahmad Lawan and some other lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have headed to court to challenge the emergence of Bukola Saraki as the Senate President.
Saraki was elected into the office on Tuesday at the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly by the Clerk, Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa.
However, Lawan and some of his colleagues missed the inauguration because of a meeting summoned by President Muhammadu Buhari over the crisis as regards who hold principal offices of the NASS.
Later, Lawan took his oath as Senator and thereafter addressed the press with his Unity Forum group, indicating his intention to challenge the senate leadership election in court.
Lawan said a quorum was not formed for the poll and wants the court to dismiss the whole exercise.
