Sylva Picks Bayelsa APC Guber Ticket

Former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election held in the state on Tuesday.

Sylva defeated his closest contender, Timi Alaibe, to grab the sole ticket of the party for the governorship election, which holds later in 2015.

The former governor polled 726 votes, while the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, only raked 4 votes from the 1,502 delegates expected to partake in the process.

It would be recalled that on Tuesday evening, the process had initially ended in a deadlock, which forced Chairman of the primary election, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State to be smuggled out by security operatives at the venue of exercise, Samson Siasia Sport Complex in Yenagoa.

No fewer than 19 aspirants had indicated interest in taking part in the process.
