Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, swore-in the newly appointed permanent secretaries in the state civil service.
The governor said this was in line with his administration’s on-going reforms to reposition the Bauchi State Civil Service.
During the ceremony which was held at the State House, the governor charged the new appointees to ensure an increase in efficiency of the civil service.
Abubakar congratulated the newly appointees, but reminded them that they are the arrow heads in the formulation and implementation of policy.
The Governor also stated that as against past practices of the former administration, only competent persons will be engaged in the Civil Service, and incentives will be given strictly on merit. He highlighted steps taken by his administration to stamp out corruption.
Furthermore, he cautioned the newly appointed Perm Secs to live above board. He reiterated that the relationship between the Perm. Secs. and their Commissioners must be cordial to improve service delivery. He told them the people are watching and they should see themselves as servants of the people.
Finally, the Governor thanked the Civil Servants and Labour Leaders for their continuous support, saying that his administration will continue to dialogue with and engage them.
In his opening remarks, the Acting Permanent Secretary General Service Ibrahim Adamu, said that the appointments were done at the right time with the right people.
