Oyo Police Meet Warring NURTW, RTEAN Members

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, has held a meeting with the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, and that of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN.

The occasion took place on Tuesday at the Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, the state capital.

At the gathering, the police chief urged the warring members of the two transport unions to embrace peace.

Oyebade noted that every stakeholders in Oyo State should be concerned about peace in the state and not using violence to settle scores.

The police boss warned that his men will not hesitate to deal with another group that is poised to cause any breakdown of law and order in Oyo State, no matter how highly placed the person is.

Last week, members of the NURTW and RTEAN engaged in a free-for-all in some parts of Ibadan, destroying some properties in the process.
