Riot Erupts In Ogun After Cop Kills Okada Rider

There was chaos in a part of Ogun State on Thursday, June 2, 2016, when a policeman allegedly shot dead a commercial motorcycle rider commonly called okada rider.

Trouble reportedly brewed after the late rider refused to give bribe to the cop, who we gathered would also not let go.

The incident, according to our reporter, took place in Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

As soon as the cop allegedly shot dead the victim and passersby got wind of it, according to reports, the policemen started to shoot sporadically in the air to disperse the crowd, which was already swelling.

The incident angered onlookers, who took laws into their hands. Some of them blocked roads in the area with bonfires, protesting the death of the motorcycle rider.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Police Command is yet to comment on the incident.
