Keyamo Blames ENDSARS Protests for Driver’s Death

The Minister of State for Labour, Festus Kayamo (SAN), this morning blamed the ongoing EndSARS protests for the death of his driver, Yohanna Shankuk.

Shankuk died on Wednesday while walking on foot to the private office of the Minister in Abuja. He was knocked down by a vehicle trying to avoid the protesters.

For almost a week now, there have been demonstrations in different parts of the country, calling for a thorough police reform. The agitation has gained global attention.

Announcing the death of his driver, the Minister said, the man died at Berger roundabout, Abuja.

He wrote, “I regret to announce that my driver, Mr. Yohanna Shankuk, died yesterday in Abuja as a result of the protests.

“A vehicle that saw advancing protesters at Berger roundabout, made a U-turn, took the one-way back and ran over him as he was making his way on foot to my private office.”

It will be recalled that the minister had on Tuesday said the ongoing #EndSARS protest rocking the country was becoming a mob action, adding that some criminal elements have mixed with genuine protesters to unleash terror on citizens and members of the Nigeria Police Force.
