Anti-Corruption: Group Partners Akin Fadeyi Foundation

In order to further strengthen the organization’s unrelenting efforts towards raising citizen voice-action for accountable public institutions through its grassroots Pan-Nigeria campaign against retail corruption tagged; Corruption, Not In My Country, a group called the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria has announced plans to partner with the Akin Fadeyi Foundation (AFF).

Coordinator of OGP Nigeria, Barrister Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu, stated in a statement that, “We are delighted to announce a partnership with the Akin Fadeyi Foundation on its Corruption, Not In My Country Project.”

She described the grassroots anti-corruption advocacy project as “an important one, particularly at a time like this when the Nigerian Government and its people are collectively declaring war against corruption.”

“We believe that, the ‘Corruption, Not In My Country Project’ will empower citizens to imbibe openness in their business dealings and to demand accountability from Government,” she enthused.

Barrister Ibekaku-Nwagwu, who is also the Special Adviser to the President on Justice Reform, added further that, “Our commitment to being part of the Akin Fadeyi Foundation’s anti-corruption effort is part of our multi-stakeholder approach to creating a socio-economic environment guided by Open Governance principle.

“We also believe that with the successes recorded so far in the implementation of the Whistle-Blower policy, supported by Nigerians, a citizen-led anti-corruption campaign such as that championed by the Akin Fadeyi Foundation will also succeed. OGP Nigeria will continue to support AFF and other like-minded organizations committed to building a healthy and vibrant socio-economic ecosystem.”

In his remarks, Executive Director of the Akin Fadeyi Foundation, Mr Akin Fadeyi said, “This is another exciting news for us at Akin Fadeyi Foundation.

“Working with Open Governance Partnership Nigeria is a huge milestone for us and we will continuously deploy our efforts to continuously promote accountability and transparency in service delivery.”

Fadeyi expressed gratitude to the leadership of OGP Nigeria for supporting the vision of the Akin Fadeyi Foundation.

“We are grateful to the OGP Nigeria Secretariat led by the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, for the trust reposed in us. We will continue to promote retail and grassroots anti-corruption within the country and make citizens accountable,” he said.
