Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPPAN), South Africa chapter, fondly called TAMPPAN-South Africa, is one of the international state branches of the Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPPAN) established and incorporated in Pretoria, South Africa.
The branch was formed based on the need for the body representing professionals of the second largest entertainment industry in the world (Nollywood) to bring into the body’s fold members off the shores of Nigeria, thereby taking the professional body, to an international level.
The story is now that TAMPPAN has gone international by having its South Africa organ coming into existence, thanks to the unwavering efforts of the Board of Trustees of the South Africa branch led by Olamilekan Ojo aka Gbatami.
TAMVAAS Awards is initiated by Nollywood veteran act, Olamilekan Ojo popularly known as Gbatami who see need for actors and actresses as well as personalities behind the scene to be recognized both within and outside the shore of Nigeria.
In his words “It is the platform for the promotion of entertainment excellence through recognition of professional entertainment artworks in theatre and motion pictures of Nigerian and South African origins.”
The brains and hands behind this innovative project includes; Otunba Wale Balogun, Victor Okafor, Prince Fube Danor, Adekunle Adebowale, Emiola Afolabi, Friday Eromosele, Reinett Mahlodi Ekoh, Otunba Olufemi.
Meanwhile, there are other African entertainment award events recognizing performance in Africa, TAMVAAS is specifically designed to recognize the input of professionals in the Nigerian and South African entertainment industries:
However, this maiden edition will witness the presence of; Dele Odule as Guest of Honour, Speaker of the Day – Taiwo Abdulrasheed Abdullah – Hon House of Assembly Kwara State, Father of the Day – Otunba Olufemi Luliluli – CEO Luliluli Hotel SOUTH Africa and many more notable personalities from different works of life.
