There are strong indications that the Senate may move a motion to remove President Muhammadu Buhari from office in the coming days.

This plan, according to SaharaReporters, may see the light of the day if the criminal charges against the Senate leadership are not dropped by the Federal Government.

It would be recalled that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, are standing trial for allegedly tampering with the Senate Standing Rule.

The Senate and the Presidency have been at loggerheads for a long.

Both tiers of government got it bad since the emergence of Saraki as Senate President in June 2015, which affected the plan of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

At the plenary on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, it was reported that some members of the Senate threatened to impeach the President.

“The Senators who met behind closed doors were incensed by the proposed trial of the leadership of the Senate for forgery.

“Shortly after commencement of a plenary session, some Senators called on their colleagues, led by Senators Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi (APC Kaduna North) and Kabir Marafa (APC Zamfara Central) to sheathe their sword and withdraw the petition that had led to the criminal prosecution of Senate President Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu,” the online news platform reports.

“The Executive Session, which was chaired by Saraki, also reminded the Senate that a committee led by former Senate President David Mark had been set up to ‘reconcile’ members.

“Curiously, Mark stood and said he was not informed that he chairs such a committee and that he didn’t know any members.  He was simply told to do his ‘work’,” it added.
