Police Parade Kidnappers Of Sierra Leonean Diplomat

Those suspected to have abducted the Deputy High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to Nigeria last month have been apprehended by the police.

The suspects were paraded by the police before newsmen on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Peace-Keeping Hall, Force Headquarters in Abuja..

It was disclosed that the 11-man kidnap gang terrorizing Kaduna, FCT and other North-Central States of Nigeria, was nabbed during a coordinated operation based on intelligence and technical support, received by the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, of the Nigeria Police.

A statement issued by the police spokesman, Don Awunah, confirmed that the gang was responsible for the abduction of the Sierra Leonean Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Maj. Gen. Alfred Claude-Nelson on June 30, 2016, as well as the Executive Director of Dangote Group and many other high profile kidnap for ransom in recent times.

He explained that the modus operandi of these criminal elements includes mounting road blocks on highways in Military uniforms, surprise attack on unsuspecting motorist and relocating from one point to other in the forest with their victims to avoid detection and arrest.

Some of the items recovered from them were three AK 47 rifles, three AK 47 rifle magazines loaded with 90 rounds of ammunition and two sets of Military camouflage uniforms.

The police promised to always be smarter than criminals in the society and promised to prosecute the suspects after the conclusion of investigations.
