Okah Still In Kuje Prison—NPS

Spokesman of the Nigerian Prisons Service, NPS, Francis Enobore, has debunked reports that the suspected mastermind of the 2010 Independence Day bombings, Charles Okah, has escaped from their custody.

Enobore informed Premium Times when contacted that Okah, one of the leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND, has not escaped from the Kuje Prison in Abuja, where he is being kept.

“It is not true (that he escaped),” Enobore told Premium Times, saying further that, “He is there (Kuje prison) hale and hearty. The comptroller of prisons in charge of the FCT was there less than 30 minutes ago and he saw him there. I spoke to the controller.”

However, Enobore admitted that “there was an incident yesterday, but Henry Okah was not involved.”
