Lancelot Imasuen Reflects On Life At 45

Popular Nollywood filmmaker, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen aka D’Guvnor is celebrating his 45th birthday today, Monday, June 20, 2016, and in a mixture of happy and sad moods, has called for the reversal of the old Nigeria with a hash tag #bringbacksameoldnigeria.

Lancelot, speaking from his movie location in Benin City, where he is shooting a movie called ‘Love upon the hills’, thanked “God almighty for giving me a great life, career achievements, sweet wife, angelic kids, wonderful family both immediate and extended, in-laws beyond words.

“Friends, schoolmates, colleagues and of course my Edo, the place of my birth. But sadly as I celebrate, I am forced to ask, ‘please where is that country I was born into 45 years ago?’ Please is it that same Nigeria? Where is that country where NEPA would first announce that by 4pm, there would be power outrage till 5pm for maintenance purpose? Abeg where is that country where it was 70kobo to one dollar, Where is it? Where is that country where with just N90, you are airborne to Lagos from Benin? Oh where is that country?

“Where is that country where a brand new 504 was yours with just N3,000? Oga Senator where is that country where the only reason you need to visit America was for the graduation of your children.

“Where is that country where a trip to Lagos by road to Benin was a pleasure trip, in three hours, you’ve forgotten you travelled. Please where is that country?

“Friends, where is that same country where it was pride to be called a Nigerian? Where those serving, served well and those been served equally did their part.
