Buhari Appoints Akabueze Budget Office DG

Former Commissioner Economic Planning and Budget in Lagos State, Ben Akabueze, has been appointed as the new Director General of the Budget Office.

Akabueze’s appointment was confirmed on Thursday, June 9, 2016.

It was disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Akabueze as the new DG of the Budget Office.

A statement by spokesman to the President, Femi Adesina, disclosed that “Akabueze takes over from Tijani Mohammed Abdullahi who will now serve as Special Adviser to the President on Planning and will continue to work with the Minister of Budget and National Planning.”

Adesina explained that, “Both Akabueze and Abdullahi joined the Ministry of Budget and National Planning in February this year.”

He also said their redeployment is part of an ongoing exercise aimed at further repositioning the Ministry to effectively deliver on its core mandate.

Until his recent appointment, Akabueze was the Special Adviser to the President on National Planning.
