The military onslaught launched by the Federal Government on Niger Delta Avengers in the South South region of the country has been suspended.
The suspension was announced on Monday by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, in Abuja.
Addressing newsmen, the Minister said the government was taking this action to give room for dialogue with the militants.
He said the FG was considering scaling down military operations in the offensive against Niger Delta militants for about two weeks.
There have been renewed attacks on oil installations belonging to both government and private entities in the region by militants, specifically by the Niger Delta Avengers.
