Buhari Cancels Calabar Trip

President Muhammadu Buhari has shelved his planned working visit to Cross River State, where he was expected to commission the highly-publicised Monorail and Garment factory projects in the state.

This is coming barely a week after the President also called off a much-hyped visit to Lagos State for the commissioning of some projects. The President later sent his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo, to carry out the duties.

No reason was given by the Presidency for the cancellation of Buhari’s visit to Cross River State, which is governed by an opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

However, in October 2015, five months after the President was sworn in, he visited Ben Ayade for the flagging-off of construction of the controversial Calabar super highway project.

Until the cancelled trip, preparations were already in top gear to welcome the President to the state for a second time.
