Court Bars Metuh From Seeking Treatment Abroad

Justice Okon Abang of Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ruled that Olisa Metuh will not be allowed to seek medical attention abroad as he had requested.

The judge ruled on Wednesday that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the application filed by the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, because he (Metuh) had been ordered to deposit his international passport with the chief registrar of the high court.

Justice Abang explained that “This is not a case of sympathy, but a case of law.‎ This court has no jurisdiction to entertain this application.”

According to him, “The court is not Father Christmas to give to the defendant what it did not ask for,” adding that “the application lacks merit.”

He then dismissed the application, explaining that the court cannot set aside its decision.”

Metuh is presently undergoing treatment at the National Hospital.
