Hoodlums Hijack NLC Strike In Lagos

Fadeyi violence

Some persons suspected to be thugs in Lagos reportedly took advantage of the industrial action called upon by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, on Wednesday to unleash terror on law abiding citizens, who were on their way to work.

It was learnt that around Fadeyi end of the popular Ikorodu Road, some hoodlums set up bonfire and started hurling stones at vehicles and BRT buses plying the road.

It was not clear if the blockade was initially set up by the labour union, but thugs took over the road and violently turned motorists and commuters back.

It took the prompt intervention of security operatives drafted to the area to disperse the hoodlums.

The NLC urged workers and Nigerians to go on strike to protest the recent increase of pump price of petrol from N86.50 to N145 by the Federal Government.
