Troops Restore Calm To Kareto After Terrorists Attack

The Nigerian Army has confirmed that peace has been restored to the Kareto town of Borno State after Boko Haram members invaded the community on Monday morning.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Army spokesman, Col Sani Usman, he said troops were able to repel the insurgents and took control of the place.

Usman recalled in the statement that “Boko Haram terrorists attacked our troops location at Kareto” on Monday, but said they “were successfully repelled by our troops.”

According to him, “The situation has since been brought under control and reinforcement sent to the location.”

Usman pointed out that 22 soldiers were injured during the fierce gun battle with the Islamic sect, but are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Maiduguri, the state capital.

He said troops were still on the trail of the insurgents, noting that several of the insurgents were killed in the attack while others escaped.
