APC, Accord Party, LP To Merge In Delta

According to Vanguard, there are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is set to merge with the Labour Party, LP, to tackle the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which has governed the state since 1999.

It was gathered that talks are ongoing between leaderships of the two parties in the state to come together to engage the PDP in future elections in the state.

Leading the merger talks on the side of LP is Sir Richard Odibo, a frontline leader of the party and on the APC side, Alfred Oloko, a former member of the House of Representatives.

A source close to parties disclosed to Vanguard that the committees have agreed on a number of issues, reiterating that that the fusion of the LP into APC would be formally announced in no distant time, saying that the process of merger was almost completed and a number of resolutions already in place to be announced soon.

It was disclosed that the National leadership of the APC had been briefed about the development and had expressed happiness at the planned merger.

The source was said to have revealed that the Accord Party in the state led by former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei was also in contact with the APC on its intention of joining forces with APC.
